Traineeships

Education and training programmes with work experience

Traineeships are education and training programmes with work experience, which focus on giving you the skills and experience you need to help you compete for an apprenticeship or other jobs.

They are open to young people aged 16 to 24, including if you have an Education Health and Care (EHC) plan. Young people with EHC plans can keep their plan when they undertake a traineeship.

If you want to do a traineeship, we will help you organise a traineeship with an employer, if this is something you want to do. These are less formal than an apprenticeship (usually for a set period and usually for no more than 6 months) You do not get paid, but a traineeship can provide really helpful experience in an area of work you are interested in.
